Villa Akasa began with a simple dream — to create the kind of place we would always want to return to ourselves.
After years in the fast pace of city life, we found ourselves drawn to Varkala. It was the quiet mornings, the lush tropical landscape, the sound of birds, the ocean breeze and the slower rhythm of everyday life that convinced us we had found home.
When we built Villa Akasa, we never set out to create just another place to stay. We wanted to build a home that reflected everything we value: peace, simplicity, thoughtful design and genuine hospitality.
Every room, every garden path and every quiet corner has been created with intention. Nature was never something we wanted to tame — it was something we wanted to celebrate. The gardens were allowed to flourish, the trees to grow, and the sounds of birds to become part of the experience. We believe that luxury is not about excess, but about having the space to breathe, to slow down and to reconnect.
Our love for hospitality extends beyond providing comfortable rooms. We enjoy sharing the flavours of Kerala through freshly prepared breakfasts, recommending our favourite hidden beaches and cafés, and helping guests discover the quieter, more authentic side of Varkala. It is often the little moments — a conversation over morning coffee, watching the sunset after a day at the beach, or simply relaxing beneath the trees — that become the memories guests take home.
Villa Akasa is also shared with a few very special members of our family. Yakko, our gentle Labrador, Sophie, our affectionate Cocker Spaniel, and Birdie, our beautiful rescue from Vietnam, are very much part of the warmth and character that make this place feel like home.
We have travelled to many beautiful destinations around the world, but we continue to believe that life's greatest luxuries are remarkably simple: fresh air, nature, good food, meaningful conversations and time well spent with the people around us. Those are the experiences we hope every guest discovers here.
